A date moved for a reason

The April 2014 announcement set sales for 20 June. Subaru explained that all grades had been delayed to prepare production of the EyeSight version 3 units. A wagon launch was being scheduled around its driver-assistance hardware.

Two ways to tour

Japan’s first launch offered 1.6 and 2.0 direct-injection turbos. The 2.0’s 300 PS rating belongs to that Japanese configuration; it is not a universal Levorg horsepower number.

A second chapter

The 2020 announcement brought a 1.8-liter turbo and a full inner frame on the Global Platform. Standard new-generation EyeSight and the more elaborate EyeSight X on equipped grades were distinct systems.

Read the luggage number carefully

For the Japan-market 2020 launch, Subaru’s 561-liter VDA cargo total comprised 492 liters above the floor plus 69 liters below it. Comparisons that omit that accounting boundary can make two wagons seem further apart than they are. The photograph shows a later VN STI Sport, not the original launch car.

Japan October 2020 launch. Subaru’s VDA cargo-volume total of 561 liters comprises 492 liters above the cargo floor and 69 liters in the sub-trunk below the floor. A proportional stacked bar shows the two parts on a zero-based liter scale. The illustration is a volume-accounting comparison, not a drawing of the car’s compartment geometry.
2020 Levorg: what the 561-liter cargo total includes. Subaru’s October 2020 Japanese Levorg announcement reports 561 liters under the VDA method: 492 liters above the cargo floor plus a 69-liter sub-trunk below it. The illustration shows how those spaces contribute to the published total; comparisons need the same measurement method and included spaces. Original comparison by SubaruFacts.
