Exiga’s three rows tell a different Subaru family-car story.

Let the back row see

For its June 2008 Japanese debut, Exiga placed each seating row higher than the one ahead. This was a packaging idea with an obvious passenger benefit: the third row could look outward rather than only at headrests.

Conceptual side-view diagram shows front, second, and third Exiga seating rows on successively higher levels, with a dashed line illustrating the raised-row idea. Not to scale; no seat dimensions or sightlines are measured.
Exiga’s theater-style three-row seating concept. Subaru’s June 2008 Japanese launch material describes the Exiga’s rows as progressively higher toward the rear. The diagram illustrates that concept only; it does not claim a measured sightline or precise seat geometry. Original explanatory schematic by SubaruFacts. Sources: EXIGA Japanese launch

The roof was a choice

The panoramic glass roof was optional on all launch grades except base 2.0i. It should not be assumed from the model name. The later 2.5i-S photograph illustrates the body, not a launch trim specification.

03

Families chose the turbo too

Subaru reported 4,657 orders through 16 July. The turbo 2.0GT represented 43.2%, while 25.7% of orders were 2WD. These are first-month order shares, not lifetime production figures or proof of a rare option combination.

A change of clothes

In April 2015 the formal Exiga Crossover 7 name accompanied cladding and roof rails. The seven-seat theme continued with an SUV presentation. This Japanese record does not establish a Tribeca replacement for North America.

The launch engines were not interchangeable

For Japan’s June 2008 launch, the naturally aspirated 2.0-liter was rated at 109 kW (148 PS) and 191 N·m, paired with a four-speed SPORTSHIFT automatic. The 2.0GT turbo made 165 kW (225 PS) and 326 N·m, with a five-speed automatic. Subaru published the figures at different engine speeds: 6,000/3,200 rpm for the naturally aspirated car and 5,600/4,400 rpm for the GT. Those are factory net ratings, not a market-neutral comparison.

Japan June 2008 launch, manufacturer net ratings. Naturally aspirated 2.0i-L AWD: 109 kW, also 148 PS, at 6000 rpm; 191 newton-meters at 3200 rpm; four-speed automatic. Turbo 2.0GT: 165 kW, also 225 PS, at 5600 rpm; 326 newton-meters at 4400 rpm; five-speed automatic. Power and torque use separate zero-based scales. The launch range also included 2WD entries; these selected AWD configurations do not represent every Exiga.
2008 Exiga: two distinct launch powertrains. At the June 2008 Japanese launch, the naturally aspirated Exiga 2.0i-L AWD was rated at 109 kW (148 PS) at 6,000 rpm and 191 N·m at 3,200 rpm, with a four-speed automatic. The turbo 2.0GT was rated at 165 kW (225 PS) at 5,600 rpm and 326 N·m at 4,400 rpm, with a five-speed automatic. These are factory net ratings for two selected configurations; the launch range also included 2WD cars. The release’s general AWD prose and its 2WD table do not agree, so an individual car’s driven wheels still need vehicle-specific evidence. Original comparison by SubaruFacts. The factory release disagrees with itself on 2WD

In the drivetrain section, Subaru’s June 2008 release says Active Torque Split AWD was fitted to all naturally aspirated models. Yet its environmental table lists 2WD versions of the 2.0i, 2.0i-L and 2.0i-S. The table is direct evidence that the launch range included non-turbo 2WD entries, but the conflicting prose deserves to stay visible. For an individual car, verify its applied equipment from vehicle records rather than assuming from the engine or trim name.
