Two DIT engines, two Japanese test results

Subaru paired its new 1.6-liter direct-injection turbo with regular gasoline and reported 17.4 km/L on Japan’s JC08 test. A footnote gives 16.0 km/L for vehicles weighing at least 1,540 kg. These are certification results, not real-world economy or U.S. EPA mpg.

The 2.0-liter high-performance DIT was rated at 221 kW (300 PS) and 400 N·m at 2,000 rpm, with 13.2 km/L on JC08. These values belong to the dated Japanese launch; later Levorg engines differ.

A Japanese sports tourer with a defined launch

Fuji Heavy Industries announced the production Levorg in Japan on 15 April 2014 and set sales for 20 June. The release frames it as a sports tourer drawing on Subaru’s wagon experience: a low roofline, cargo capacity and a cabin intended for long-distance travel.

This profile records the Japanese launch. Its name and specifications do not identify a later export-market Levorg or establish an individual vehicle’s original grade.

Individual EyeSight and suspension equipment varies by grade. No prototype weight is projected into a production trim.

EyeSight version 3 shaped the rollout

Subaru moved every grade to 20 June after previously announcing May or June timing by grade. It said the delay would prepare mass production of the EyeSight version 3 unit. The release describes wider and longer color-camera recognition, active lane-keeping steering support, brake-lamp recognition and revised pre-collision braking and adaptive cruise behavior.

The 2014 price table includes a 1.6GT without EyeSight as well as equipped grades. Confirm equipment by trim instead of treating the generation label as proof of a system.
