Wagon out, hatchback in — and the last EJ20 JDM specials.
The third generation dropped the wagon body style in favor of a 5-door hatchback, with the US STI hatchback arriving in March 2008, after the sedan. JDM STI's parallel S-series catalog continued through this era, including the 2010 R205 (400 units, a hatchback-generation naming substitute — no 'S205' appears on STI's own heritage page) and the 2011/2012 S206 (300 units, 320 hp EJ207, carbon-fiber roof on some cars). Exact body-style/trim chassis-code mapping for this generation (GE/GH/GR/GV) remains unresolved in the research corpus.
US-market WRX and STI both offered; the STI hatchback specifically didn't reach the US until March 2008, after the sedan.

R205 (2010) is a naming discontinuity worth flagging: STI's own heritage page shows no 'S205,' suggesting R205 substituted for it in the hatchback era rather than a missing model existing somewhere unrecorded.

Identification and ownership notes
US STI sedans reached this chassis generation before hatchbacks did (March 2008) — an STI hatchback claiming a 2007 model year should be treated skeptically pending verification.
