SL · 2024–present
Hybrid finally reaches the US Forester.
Production for the sixth generation began in 2024 for model year 2025, with North American assembly starting at Subaru of Indiana Automotive (Lafayette, IN) in October 2025. The headline change is powertrain breadth: alongside the CB18 turbo and FB25 DI gasoline engines, the SL generation adds an FB20D e-Boxer mild hybrid (12.3 kW motor) and an FB25D e-Boxer full hybrid (88 kW AC synchronous motor) — a shift from the prior generation's US gasoline-only approach toward electrification parity with European and other markets.
US lineup gains hybrid options for the first time, alongside the existing CB18 turbo and FB25 gasoline engines; North American assembly begins at Subaru of Indiana Automotive.

Engine options
| Engine | Years | Power | Torque |
|---|---|---|---|
| FB20D e-Boxer Mild Hybrid | 2024–present | 12.3 kW electric motor (combined output not researched) | 48 lb-ft (65 N·m) from the electric motor alone, per the same 12.3 kW motor architecture used in the SK-generation Europe e-Boxer; combined system torque not published |
| FB25D e-Boxer Full Hybrid | 2024–present | 88 kW AC synchronous motor (combined output not researched) | 199 lb-ft (270 N·m) from the electric motor alone, per Subaru's 2026 Crosstrek Hybrid spec sheet for the same 88 kW/118 hp motor architecture; a Forester-specific figure and combined system torque were not separately confirmed (Subaru states it does not publish a standardized combined-torque figure for its hybrids) |

e-Boxer badging on a US-market Forester dates to this generation — the SK generation's e-Boxer was Europe-only and never sold in the US.
