Powertrain

Powertrain details

Japan June 2008 launch, manufacturer net ratings. Naturally aspirated 2.0i-L AWD: 109 kW, also 148 PS, at 6000 rpm; 191 newton-meters at 3200 rpm; four-speed automatic. Turbo 2.0GT: 165 kW, also 225 PS, at 5600 rpm; 326 newton-meters at 4400 rpm; five-speed automatic. Power and torque use separate zero-based scales. The launch range also included 2WD entries; these selected AWD configurations do not represent every Exiga.
2008 Exiga: two distinct launch powertrains. At the June 2008 Japanese launch, the naturally aspirated Exiga 2.0i-L AWD was rated at 109 kW (148 PS) at 6,000 rpm and 191 N·m at 3,200 rpm, with a four-speed automatic. The turbo 2.0GT was rated at 165 kW (225 PS) at 5,600 rpm and 326 N·m at 4,400 rpm, with a five-speed automatic. These are factory net ratings for two selected configurations; the launch range also included 2WD cars. The release’s general AWD prose and its 2WD table do not agree, so an individual car’s driven wheels still need vehicle-specific evidence. Original comparison by SubaruFacts. Naturally aspirated launch models are described with four-speed automatic and Active Torque Split AWD; the turbo 2.0GT uses a five-speed automatic and VTD AWD. Subaru’s same release also lists naturally aspirated 2WD grades, so the prose is not a safe universal fitment rule.

Subaru reported 4,657 first-month Exiga orders through July 16, 2008. Its reported proportions were 43.2% GT grades, 25.7% 2WD and 37.5% panoramic-roof fitment. These are separate marginal percentages; they cannot be multiplied to infer combinations or actual final production.

The English 2008 Exiga launch release makes a broad statement about AWD on naturally aspirated models, while its environmental-performance table lists non-turbo 2WD grades. The conflict is retained; the page does not infer that all non-turbo cars were AWD.
