The generation that finally retired the XV name everywhere.
Revealed September 15, 2022 in Japan with a North American debut at the February 2023 Chicago Auto Show, this generation unified the global nameplate as 'Crosstrek' for the first time, ending the decade-long XV/Crosstrek naming split in at least four confirmed former-XV markets. A January 2025-announced series-parallel hybrid (a third, distinct hybrid architecture from the prior NiMH and PHEV systems) pairs a 2.5L FB25 Atkinson-cycle engine (162 hp) with a 118 hp traction motor for 194 hp combined, arriving for MY2026 in Sport Hybrid and Limited Hybrid trims. The Wilderness trim (240mm ground clearance) also debuts this generation.
'Crosstrek' unified globally for the first time, replacing 'XV' even in Australia, Europe, Japan, and Malaysia; Japan additionally offers a front-wheel-drive-only variant for cost reduction.
