Manufactured for model years 2006–2007 and badged 'B9 Tribeca,' this was Subaru's first three-row crossover, offered in both 5- and 7-seat configurations. Its triangular grille/nose treatment, credited to designer Erwin Leo Himmel and team (interior credited to Andreas Zapatinas), was widely criticized by contemporary reviewers — one reviewer is quoted (per a Wikipedia paraphrase, not yet traced to its original publication) calling it 'an irredeemably gruesome beast.'
